If properly prepped, I think a stock 302 crank can handle around 500-550 hp, any more and you're going on thin ice. The block is the real weak link, since there isn't much meat in there. Cracking in the mains, between the cylinders, even up into the lifter valley can happen.It scares me to think that the e16g kit could fatigue the stock crank that badly at those power levels in a couple of years. There are guys running C4's behind built 351C's at the strip but they are highly modified. A stocker IMHO will take a 400 HP street blast every once in a while without grenading. The same trans might not last a day at the strip making run after run. With a good shift kit and an external trans cooler the same trans would likely last a long time. The Stage 3 4L80E build adds the billet input shaft and rollerized billet forward hub for applications above 750 HP. This build will handle well over 1000 HP assuming moderate RPM range (less than 7000 rpm), average or lighter weight vehicle, and no large N2O usage.
