Much more meaningful relationships with your patients, most of which will be seeing you for the biggest/most difficult event of their lives. Depending on what area of Onc may have a lot of sad cases. The basic scientists with one clinic day a week currently make 350K+, but if you're a good scientist and spin off a company as many do in the Bay Area, that's how you get a nice kickback (at least in the 7-8 figures range) for years of low pay.Thought I should leave some feedback on heme/onc's behalf: 1.
